JC Friends Feeding Friends continues to operate during coronavirus pandemic and reopening

As the coronavirus continues to challenge and change our routines, Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends has endeavored to provide a semblance of structure for local children in need.

Through June 2020, Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends will provide weekend meals for students to pick up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays at Meadowlark Elementary School. Meals will also be delivered to Kaycee students as well as to students who aren’t able to pick up a bag on Friday. If you, your child or a child you know is in need of food on the weekends but is not able to pick up a bag during the allotted time, please call or text Sharon Miller at (619)756-3876 or send an email to info@jc-fff.org

Over the last two months, we’ve seen the need for weekend meals increase. While that would typically mean we need more volunteers, we are doing our best to reduce the number of people directly involved with food distribution to help limit the exposure and spread of the virus. As we package and deliver meals each week, all volunteers are asked to follow hygiene guidelines and to wear a mask, and all volunteers are screened for a fever and cough prior to assisting.

We continue to be asked how the community can help, and one of the best ways to help right now is by making a monetary donation, which can be done on our website at jc-fff.org/donate.

Johnson County is nothing if not a giving community, and we’ve seen that generosity continue as we’ve all weathered the ever-changing landscape. We thank you for your donations, your time and your commitment to keeping Johnson County a place we are all thankful to call home.
