Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends Receives $8,000 Grant from the Powder River Energy Foundation and Basin Electric for the bread for bags project.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Buffalo, WY 8/3/2023 – Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends (JC-FFF) is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded an $8,000 grant to support  their “bread for bags” project.  The generous grant, awarded by Powder River Energy Foundation and Basin Electric, will enable JC-FFF to include bread items in the weekend food bags two times per month.

Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends, aims to address food insecurity among students in the region. It is well-documented that some children struggle to access adequate food during the weekends, leading to nutrition gaps and potential learning challenges. By providing weekend food bags, JC-FFF endeavors to bridge this gap and foster a healthier, thriving community.

“We are immensely grateful to Powder River Energy Foundation and Basin Electric for their support and commitment to our mission of alleviating hunger among students in Johnson County,” said Breean Waller, Program Coordinator at Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends. “With this $8,000 grant, we will be able to include nutritious bread items in the weekend food bags bi-weekly, ensuring that our young beneficiaries have the sustenance they need to grow, learn, and succeed.”

The grant funds will specifically be allocated to purchase high-quality bread products and related supplies that meet the nutritional requirements of growing children. The inclusion of bread items in the weekend food bags will provide an additional source of essential nutrients, energy, and food variety for the students.
