Banana Splits and Valentines Day.

This Valentine’s Day, Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends teamed up with New West High School to create an unforgettable banana split extravaganza.  JC-FFF provided over 40 bananas and a cornucopia of toppings, ensuring that every student had the opportunity to craft their perfect banana split.

The kids had their choice of fresh blueberries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries as well as their choice of strawberry, chocolate or vanilla ice cream.  Fun toppings included granola, maraschino cherries, whipped cream, chocolate and caramel sauce and of course, sprinkles!

But the real fun began with the banana split making contest, where students showcased their creativity and culinary skills under the watchful eyes of the New West Faculty judges. With ingredients laid out before them, the students set to work, each determined to craft the most delicious and visually stunning banana split.

Once the last sprinkle had been sprinkled and the final dollop of whipped cream added, it was time for the judging to begin. The New West Faculty had the difficult task of selecting the winners from a field of impressive entries, each one more tempting than the last.  I think everyone agreed that everyone was a winner, but the overall winner by the judges was our featured photo!

Thank you New West High School for letting us be a part of your Valentine’s Day fun!
