Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends is happy to share that we have received two generous grants from the Wyoming Hunger Initiative. Each year the Wyoming Hunger Initiative gives food insecurity programs the opportunity to apply for a infrastructure grant. This year JC-FFF asked for enough funds to get refrigeration in their new packing facility.
Having refrigeration is the next step in being able to better serve our community.
“Now that we are serving from our mobile food van, we have to have a place to store the perishable items. We are ordering deli meat and cheese and having to pick up the day of. We’ve made it work so far, but now that we have refrigeration, I can better prepare for our weekly brown bag lunches, which includes being able to provide items like gogurt and fresh fruit that we would need to keep refrigerated. ” Breean Waller said.
WHI also provided a grant opportunity called the Nourishing Neighbors grant. It was available to any program who are feeding kids during the summer. JC-FFF was honored to be a recipient of a generous $1,000 grant, which will be used to purchase items for our summer food program.
“The Wyoming Hunger Initiative is doing amazing things to fight food insecurity throughout the state of Wyoming. Their generosity is vital to the success of smaller programs throughout the state, and we are so grateful to be one of those recipients,” said Breean Waller, program coordinator for JC-FFF.
