Golf for the Rest of Us: Where Winning Was Optional and Laughs Were Guaranteed

Who said golf has to be serious?

Seventeen teams joined us for this year’s “Golf for the Rest of Us” fundraiser—a nine-hole scramble where strategy met silliness and absolutely no one took themselves too seriously (except maybe the Hart/Camino team, but more on that later).

Each hole came with a surprise twist—games like roulette, cornhole, arm throws, blackjack, and even a chance to “pay a pro” were scattered across the course. Teams could play to improve their own shot—or sabotage the competition by paying to add strokes to opposing teams. Yes, it was glorious chaos.

After a heated three-way tie, the Hart/Camino team emerged victorious, thanks in no small part to some strategic “investments” in their final score. Meanwhile, the honor of Biggest Loser went to Team Trimlight, made up of the Brown and Beecher families, who embraced defeat with humor and grace (and probably a few mulligans).

Whether folks were aiming for the green or just aiming to make it through without embarrassing themselves, one thing was clear: Johnson County Friends Feeding Friends was the real winner.  We raised $16,000 to help feed children in Johnson County. We’re so grateful to everyone who came out, played, laughed, and helped raise funds for a great cause.
